Good Laughter is Back!
Cast: Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Johnny Lever.
Directed by Neeraj Vora
Producer: Feroz Nadiadwala
It’s good times for cinema lovers. With emotional packed Fanaa, action packed MI 3 and now comes a comedy sensation for the year. Here is a film which thought not the best of comedies yet deserves to be called one of the finest entertainers of the year. Unlike other comical where double meaning jokes and sex is used to lure the audience – this movie is completely out of that and best watch for your family and even safer for kids to watch it.
Phir Hera Pheri ends on a sequel note so we can surely expect a part three next year or sometime in the future. The movie though relies on senseless stupidly it excels because of Paresh Rawal and actors like Jhonny Lever. There is a strained, almost desperate quality to the gags, but don’t go looking for sophisticated humour here, and PHP delivers money’s worth of chuckles.
Plot
We all remember the trio of ‘Hera Pheri’, Baburao, Raju, and Shyam who rose from rags to riches…!
Still, money brings the joy of riches and with it the greed to make more money.
So as each one is looking for investment options, Raju who’s always quick to spot ways of making easy money scouts out for an option that promises to double the investment. The only hitch is the minimum investment required is beyond what the trio saved in the last outing.
You can trust Raju to come out with a solution. Raju decides to double their money ina a scheme floated by Anuradha (Bipasha Basu). Anuradha reminds Shyam( Sunil Shetty of his dead wife (Tabu) and he has a soft corner for her. Sadly it turns out to be a scam and returns to his chawl. Raju then gets the idea of stealing money from a next door goonda. Things go haywire after that.
Now will these riches double or get them into trouble…?
Wait to watch a rib-tickling, non-stop laughter riot to find for yourself. Add to this the comic presence & performances of Jhonny Lever & Rajpal Yadav.
Let’s share a little secret here: Rajpal is one of the investor. And the poor man has borrowed money from a Don. And the Don’s totla played by the versatile, Sharad Saxena.
Our verdict:
Neeraj Vora very well managed to capture the inimitable chemistry between the three lead characters. The screenplay is fast paced, the story moves swiftly only it is in the end stage of this film when you feel it was dragged. The kids in the movie house were fully entertained. The entire circus episode is meant for the kiddies as for adults it will make the film look down.
Somehow the supporting cast lend superb hand to this film. Like Bhojpuri super star Ravi Kisan is excellent as the totla goonda. Wish there was more of him in this movie as his little appearance leaves a good impression behind.
Rajpal Yadav somehow is not his best as he acts like he does in his other films, creating monotony.
Bothe Bipasha Basu and Rimmi Sen have nothing much to do in this film and cannot be even be called as the lead cast of the film. Bipasha must stop signing films where she has nothing much to do.
One wonders why she needed a designer like Rocky S to style her when she has to dress like a simple girl with a tee and a jeans and a dancer bar outfit which any tailor could manage. Just shows how actors manage to waste producer’s money.
Rimi is hopeless though looks great only wish he had anything to do in this film instead of just giggling.
MGM studios and some malls are shown for few seconds in a song, what a waste of money must say.
The real fun though is in the chawl, as soon as they land in that chawl – the movie becomes more interesting.
A glimpse from of Tabu is show from the prequel when Bipasha makes her entry.
Paresh Rawal who endorses Domino’s pizaa in real life manages to promote the same very well in this film.
Though there are not unnecessary songs in this film every five minutes, you are let down by the music except for the music video track which is quite catchy by Himesh. The music video is played in the end credits and not part of the film.
There were some reports in the papers that Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar had some major problems as Akshay got Sunil’s portions edited. After watching the film you will realise that the story must be absolute bullshit. Both the actors have equal share in the film and if all there is problem then the two heroines must go and enquire with producer Feroze Nadiadwala why their portions were so weak.
Neeraj being a dialogue writer has managed to pull in his career’s best dialogues in this film. Sure shot award.
This is full times pass and worth every penny. Go for it!
