Ahista Ahista --- Sweet Film
- by Viral Bhayani (eBolly.com)
Starring: Abhay Deol and Soha Ali Khan
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Directed by: Shivam Nair
Ahista Ahista may not have the appeal of a mega budget well publicized film but it comes as a welcome entry this week. Once you watch it – you are not going to regret it. The film is a simple love story and the treatment is no nice that you are bound to enjoy every moment of it. Add to it you have two stars who add absolute freshness to the film. After the heavy duty KANK, this comes as the sweetest love story in recent times.
Excellent music plus a good story line that adds up for a good Bollywood movie. As far as the glitches go, the movie does not have the masala mix of glamour, sex and action. Relatively a simpler film for people who enjoy light films. Also the pace may be a little slow which could be an impediment for the regular viewers.
Plot:
Ahista Ahista is the story of Ankush (Abhay Deol) who is an aimless youth and scrapes a living by acting as a witness in Delhi's marriage registrar's bureau and a girl Megha who has run away from her home in Naintal to get married to her love, Dheeraj. Fate intervenes and Dheeraj does not show up at the Marriage Registrars Office. Dejected, Megha is forced to rely on Ankush's generosity, albeit suspiciously. Ankush helps Megha getting her a job at the local old age home and Megha realizes her true potential as an educated girl. Ankush on the other hand, takes up a job of opening bank accounts and earns commission. A relationship starts developing between the two and Megha takes a decision of leaving her past and Dheeraj behind and embracing the future with Ankhush... Everything seems to be falling in place when Dheeraj returns. he is persistent in his search for Megha and Ankush's new found happiness curmbles. will Ankush be able to let Megha go to Dheeraj? Can gratitude replace love? This forms the crux of the story.
Verdict:
You are bound to fall in love with the character Meghna played by Soha. She looks beautiful in the simplistic look. But can’t help seeing the royalty on her face!
For Abhay he progresses to be a good actor in this film. He initially looks to posh for his character, but the character given to him gives him enough space to make him grow. Fun loving, shy he excels well with the character he plays.
There are some interesting scenes between Soha and Abhay like in the hotel or later at the old age home which makes the film more realistic. No unnecessary songs that crop in between was a welcome change in this film.
Himesh has done a good job while the background score has a 60s feel to it. It was meant to give a feel of Hrishikesh Mukherjee type of film.
The end has an interesting twist and we don’t want to reveal it. It’s quite nice – check it out!
Overall the film will work on word of mouth. Worth watching it on the big screen and highly recommended once the DVD is out.
