Shah Rukh Khan chosen for French honour
High profile Hollywood actors of the likes of George Clooney, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Bruce Wills have been among the chosen few for the coveted French honour Officer dans l’Ordre des Aris et des Lettres (Officer of the order of Arts and Letters) given by the French government to persons excelling in the field of art, literature and/or influencing the art and culture of France.
Shah Rukh Khan a.k.a the King Khan of India has been chosen for this honour this year. SRK is widely popular in France where he had a short stay during the premiere of Veer Zara where he was flooded with fans in and outside the hotel premises.
Shah Rukh is expected to receive the honour on Jan 27th in a special ceremony. The award may be presented by the visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy or by the French Ambassy in India.
Another popular Indian to receive this honour is writer and social activist, Arundhati Roy of ‘God of Small Things’ fame.
