Flashback 2007: Domestic Box Office Report
June
Being a summer holiday month, June witnessed a large number of releases which managed to give the box office the much needed booster. There were films which did average to above average business like Ahmed Khan’s Fool n Final, Yash Raj’s debacle Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Awarapan. And some films which got good openings and did exceptionally well at selected regions were Anil Sharma and Deol’s Apne and Himesh bhai’s debut release Aap Ka Suroor. Both the films got packed houses in the first few weeks of their release and went on to become hits at the B.O.
The film which were among the box office defaulters were: Sherlyn Chopra’s Red Swastik, Kashmira Shah starrer My Bollywood Bride, Miss Anara, Rahul Bose and Zain Khan starrer Chain Kulli Ki Main Kulli, Ganesh Acharya’s directorial debut Swami and the lovey-dovey Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar.
The film of the month goes to the emotional family drama Apne and the big opener Aap Ka Suroor jointly. The films not only did well in the domestic market but were also huge success stories overseas.
