Flashback 2007: Domestic Box Office Report

March

The month saw one of the maximum releases of the year with filmmakers piling up to release their films before the turn of a new fiscal year. The films which fell flat at the box office were Red, Delhi Heights, Just Married, 1971, Nishabd, Water, Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Nehle Pe Dehla and Hattrick. Among the box office failures, Water was a critically acclaimed film.

The films which did decent business were: the hit film Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Namstey London starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif and Mira Nair’s much acclaimed Namesake. Namesake despite a low budget and fewer showings went on to earn a decent sum at the ticket window. The film was a above average grosser.

The film of the month was Namastey London which not only got a good opening but stayed at the top slot for weeks. The film earned Rs. 36.92 crores in it’s over 10 weeks’ run.
