‘Tho bolo … OM SHANTI OM’ became the new-age anthem of the nation with King Khan’s six packs giving a tough time to the handsome hunks of the filmdom. The film broke all the domestic and overseas box office records killing the prospects of Saawariya in the process. The film, a perfect blend of imagination and entertainment brought a new SRK to us and introduced the beautiful Deepika Padukone. The film opened huge at mammoth number of over 870 screens and grossed a startling 85.31 cores within 6 weeks of its showing. The film is still going strong at many places and is expected to tumble more records in weeks to come.

Synopsis: The story is about two people who are completely different from each other but are destined to be one. Shah Rukh Khan plays a junior artist of the 70’s and wants to make it big some day in the film industry. Whereas, Deepika Padukone plays a superstar of the 70’s, who was the junio artist’s biggest inspiration? The junior artist was completely smitten by this actress and loved her with all his heart, even though she was engaged to a foxy man played by Arjun Rampal. Shanti (Deepika) felt betrayed in love and wanted to leave the glamor world for the sake of true love and OM (Shah Rukh) could give up his ambitions for the sake of his love for Shanti. But destined planned otherwise and Om and Shanti had to wait for another lifetime to get together and rekindle their love flame. The story transcends from the 70’s to the late 90’s and 2000’s in the next half, where Om and Shanti are destined to meet in their respective re-incarnations.

The film is a complete entertainer from the word ‘go’ and has everything but an intelligent script. The film largely did well for the SRK incarnation factor, ode to the 70-80’s of Bollywood and songs that are hummable and foot-tapping as well. The masala film had all the emotions, drama, song and dance and a lot of unexpected surprises that made the film worth a watch. The poor scripting and weak storyline didn’t stop SRK lovers from flocking every multiplex and single screen possible. Shah Rukh rocks..as usual!
