Ever expected a no-heroine film to do so well at the box office? Well, Inder Kumar’s Dhamaal just managed to prove all the odds against the film as futile and earned a successful run at the box office for this laugh riot. The film drew crowds to the theatre and ran for over 10 weeks’ period and earned Rs. 30.35 Crores and was declared a semi-hit after its continuous run at the B.O.
Synopsis: Roy, Adi, Manav and Boman are four friends, who make a living out of conning people. The thought of earning an honest living has never even crossed their minds. One day, while trying to save a dying man, Bose, they get their big break. Bose tells them that he has hidden Rs. 10 crore in Goa. Unfortunately for the four friends, police inspector Kabir Nayak has been chasing Bose for the last many years and he reaches the scene of his death. Desperate for his promotion, he questions the suspicious looking foursome he finds next to the body. Inadvertently they blurt out the secret before managing to escape.
The fun element in the film mixed with comic-laced punch lines combined with Sanjay Dutt’s off-screen shaky life, Dhamaal got a dream opening and ran for weeks at all the major centers. Along with other serious and action films, Dhamaal proved to be a fresh lease of air and had a tout script packed with some good performances. By the way, one girl couldn’t have offended anyone…that my personal opinion. Nevertheless, a nice film.
