A small town boy, Ashfaque (Ajay Devgan) likes to be a film star and wants to join Bollywood. To get his dream come true, he joins a street theater that a reformed dacoit Sidhu (Pankaj Kapur) runs. Sidhu uses this theater as a medium so that he can bring about an awakening in the masses. To give a creative vent to the actor in him, Ashfaque struggles to realize his dreams.
His determination and struggles finally pay off and he is offered a break in Hindi films. He is given a new screen name, Sameer Khan. By the passage of time, he starts getting the better roles and this shoves him to the heights of success in a very short time. In a jiffy, he becomes Sameer Khan – the super star, the one who can deliver the goods aptly on screen and enact any role with gusto and finesse. He begins to get huge audience applause.

Sadly, amidst all adulation and applause, there comes a time when he slowly starts losing his own identity. He forgets his real self and imbibes all characteristics of various roles essayed by him on screen. Corruption takes over his entire system, alienating him from all loved ones, including his wife, Sneha (Vidya Balan).
At a party, a shocking incident changes everything in his life. He gets caught between his human self on one side and his corrupted superstar image on the other.
Now the conflict within him will give his life a good sense and whether he will be able to throw away his corrupted image? And whether he will be able to ooze out as a true life hero? For the answers, do get glued to the big screens in August this year.
