Wow… Kareena finally made me laugh and gave me a reason to believe that Kapoors rock, still!
The film is a roller coster ride and you wouldnt have a single dull moment in the entire film. Not many will agree with me but Imtiaz Ali’s last film, Socha Na Tha was a decent attempt by the filmmaker and I always believed in this man’s potential at romantic flicks-with-a-twist. And what he churned out in this film is pure entertainment and an innocence that is slowly becoming his trademark.
The film starts off with a rich and famous industrialist Aditya Kashyap (Shahid Kapoor), who has failed to live up to his dad’s reputation and who’s girlfriend married some other guy. A devastated Adi leaves his house, his money and everything and takes to the streets and wanders far away from his rich life to somewhere even he wasnt sure of.
As Adi began his journey he meets this fun-loving, motor-mouth, happy-go-lucky Sikhni from Bhatinda, Geet (Kareena Kapoor) who wants to run away from her house to meet her alope with her boyfriend. But destiny had other plans for both of them.
Slowly, the serious and defeated side of Adi begins to admire the exuberance and innocence of Geet and is smitten by her attitude towards life. He finally helps her to meet her bf not realising that he might hurt her. Geet changes Adi’s life and he gains success at all fronts.
Soon, Adi realises that he loves her and that Geet was dumnped by her boy friend and he wants to help her. Soon, he meets up with Geet and there’s a spark but her boy friend realises his mistake and is back in her life. And then Geet is left to decide between the two.
The film has splendid music by Pritam and all the songs are well-placed and in sync with the storyline. The cinematogrpahy is all top-notch. Kareena Kapoor is the bet of the lot, Shahid is good too.
The story of the film is lively and portrays Kareena in a completely look. The direction of the film needs a special mention which makes this not-so-new story look fresh and lovable.
Jab We Met won my heart and mademe smile, laugh, applaud and yes, forget that I was watching Kareena Kapoor on screen. Hats off to Imtiaz Ali for handling the film with such brillaince and dedication.
