Pure ecstacy!!! There has been a lot of buzz about the mystic visuals of this Sanjay Leela Bhansali film introducing star kids Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, ever since its promos went on air. The dark blue and green hue in the film and dark creepy nights. All it needed was this, one of the best soundtracks of the year. Hear it to believe it. From classical to folk to love ballads, the album is sure a treat for your ears. And hats off to some of the fresh voices used by the debutant composer Monty Sharma. Great composition!!!
01 - Saawariya ( Shail hada)
Rating: 3.5/5
The opening track is sweet, young and melodious. Sung by indi pop sensation Shail, the track is easily one of the best in the album. Penned down by Sameer, the composition is simple and catchy from the word go. Special mention is for the crooner who brought a new lease of fresh air to the film’s music with his lovely rendition of the song. I ‘m already playing it for the third time flat!

02 - Jab Se Tere Naina ( Shaan )
Rating: 3/5
Not quite like the opening track but yet another classy romantic number sung in the soft voice of Shaan. A melodiously sung serene number, the kinds which you will like to listen to all alone with lights switched off. Though Monty Sharma tries something new by adding in loud dhol beats in this soft number along with a lively chorus to a love song. A worth it number again!

03 - Masha-Allah ( Kunal Ganjawala , Shreya Ghoshal )
Rating:3/5
Can’t get enough of all these soft and melodiously sung lovey dovey numbers from Bhansali’s romantic. Another beautifully sung number by Kunal Ganjawala and Shreya Ghoshal does the alaap in the background. The song has a sere feel to it with a lot of Indian instrumental elements in it. The opening of the track is with an alaap and it can be heard mid-way too giving it a soothing and touchy feel too. A beautiful number which grows on you once you hear it again and again.

04 - Thode Badmash ( Shreya Ghoshal )
Rating:2.5/5
The song is a situational number though it’s still melodiously sung by Shreya Ghoshal. The track will definitely go well with the visuals but wont be an instant chartbuster. Inspite of being a quality song, it lacks the punch of a stand-out track and is a good situational track.

05 - Yoon Shabnami ( Parthiv Gohil )
Rating:2.5/5
A soft and slow track again sung by newcomer Parthiv Gohil. The song has been penned down by Sandeep Nath and talks about the moon and its glow. The song is not as impressive as the title track but is a decent attempt at yet another serene number.

06 - Daras Bina Nahin Chain ( Richa Sharma , Shail hada , Parthiv Gohil )
Rating: 4/5
I would be a little bias here as I’m an ardent fan of this type of genre and who better than Richa Sharma to carry off this classical number single handedly alongwith bits and pieces crooning from the newcomers Shail and Parthiv. The opening of the song is the theme track played at the background of Saawariya’s first promo. The song is the best of the lot along with the title track. And yes, Monty Sharma hits bull’s eye with this moving, soulful and utterly Indian number. Bravo!!

07 - Sawar Gayi ( Shreya Ghoshal )
Rating: 2.5/5
Another situational number sung by Shreya Ghoshal who does the ‘Bairi Piya’ with this track. A soft and smooth number will sound much better once supported with the visuals. A classical track again with a slow pace and is expected to interest only a particular section of listeners like me who enjoy the Indian classical.

08 - Jaan -e- Jaan ( Kunal Ganjawala , Shreya Ghoshal )
Rating: 2.5/5
The track opens to a beautiful captivating tune which somehow gets lost in the process of quality composition. The song will be appreciated majorly for its immaculate composition and vocal rendition but it lacks the thump and zing of the title track. This is a duet song sung melodiously again but certainly not a chartbuster.

09 - Pari ( Kunal Ganjawala )
Rating: 3/5
Beautifully composed and a well crooned number. The song is soft with minimal instruments in it. The love ballad is hummable and grows on you as you listen to it for repeated number of times. A lot of focus is laid on the vocal genius of Kunal Ganjawala who moves you with his skills and a compostion to float you throgh the clouds of your imagination. Soothing melody!!

10 - Chhabeela ( Alka Yagnik )
Rating: 3/5
Now, did I mention I was missing this queen of melody. Alka Yagnik once again proves why her vocal skills bring an above average track come upto the level of a nice and soft number. A little ‘natkhat’ is evident as the lyrics talk about a girl admiring the innocence and mischievous nature of her lover. Alka Yagnik’s crooning is pure bliss as you long for leading singer to sing more numbers than just the lone imperssive number. Cute song!

11 - Saawariya Reprise ( Shail hada )
Rating:3/5
Meet Shail, the new singing sensation. Another soulful rendition by Shail with prime focus on the singer’s effortless class behind the mike. The singer does the ‘yoodley’ too which reminds you of the genius of Kishore Kumar and Kunal Ganjawala of our times. To sum it up, Shail is definitely the find of the album and a singer set to give stiff competition to the likes of Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Kunal etc. A soothing number to the core!! Bravo!
