Amitabh’s ‘The Last Lear’ to premiere at Toronto Film Fest
The biggest news came for the Indian film industry in the form of Planman Motion Pictures’ film ‘The Last Lear’ which will have it’s world premiere at Toronto Film Festival.
Toronoto Film Festival is reputed to be one of the biggest film fest in the world only behind Cannes and Berlin film fest. It has showcased the creme de la creme of the cinema world and now ‘The Last Lear’ is one of the selected few to be premiered at this fest.
The powerful English film has been directed by noted filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal and Shefali Shah.
This Arindam Chaudhuri presentation will be premiered on September 9 at a renowned cinema theatre in Toronto. Walking the Red Carpet would be Amitabh Bachchan, Rituparno Ghosh, Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri, Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee (CEO of Planman Motion Pictures), Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal amongst others.
The film has been critically acclaim all over for the directorial genius of Rituparno Ghosh and brilliant performances by all the actors. A special mention goes for Amitabh Bachchan for whom this performance is probably one of the finest of his film career.
Big B plays an actor for the first time ever and is not the Bachchan senior that we know but the superstar goes all out with a completely different look and character.
And more good news came for the industry as two other films; Planmans Mithya (Directed by Rajat Kapoor) and Frozen by Shivajee Chandrabhushan were selected for Cannes film fest in their official programme for 2007. But the films couldn’t been showcased because the post-production stage wasnt complete by then.
So, its India all the way… at the film fests and even on the hockey field. SRK’s Chak De! Team is passe, now its the Indian men’s hockey that won the Asia hockey Cup 2007. Woooooohoo!
