Movie Review: Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag- A brave attempt

What goes against the film?
• Comparisons with the original classic will ruin its chances at the box office.
• The film has less to offer in terms of any last-minute twists to the tale unlike Farhan Akhtar’s Don.
• Ajay Devgan and Nisha Kothari can’t live up to the Dharam-Hema magic and the romantic sequences are a real brain toaster as it slows down the pace of the film in the latter half.
• The second half of the film is a bit too violent for audiences’ liking. The film goes from good to horrifying in the second part.
• The music fails to do justice to the original’s hit soundtrack with an exception in the form of Mehbooba which is a real foot-tapper with Urmila heating up the screen.
• Sushmita Sen and Nisha Kothari fail to deliver at most occasions barring a few entertaining scenes
On a whole, the film is a yet another finely executed film by Ramuji lacking punches here and there. The violent second half, dull romantic scenes and poor promotion are definitely not working in the film’s favor at the B.O. office. With comparisons with the classic at every step, the film might only be an average to a below average grosser. Though, the few who watch the film will adore Big B’s class act.
