Movie Review: Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag- A brave attempt

What works in the film’s favor?
• The first mention for honors goes to Amitabh Bachchan and then Mohanlal. Big B as the psychotic and cruel Don of the underworld wins a hands down as the best the film had to offer. Mohanlal impresses beyond our expectations and proves his mettle as a down south veteran again.
• Not many distortions done in the original storyline. The plot and the characters remain the same.
• Setting and the interpretation of the classic is contemporary.
• Ram Gopal Verma’s trademark brilliance in sequences like Bachchan’s nerve-tickling introduction, Nisha Kothari’s humorous introduction and the courtroom sequence between Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal.
• A moving sequence where Babban avenges the death of his brother by killing the entire family of Mohalal.
• Cinematography is out-of-the-world like in every other Verma flick. The film is a pure masterpiece in that sense.
• Ajay Devgan is good along with newcomer Prashant Raj who does decent job for his first film.
