Secret behind Saawariya’s misty promo revealed
The enchanting music mesmerizes you the moment the screen is filled with a collage of green and blue shades on the magical canvas. Slowly and softly, without even getting the whip of being absorbed, I started to drink from the over-flowing poetic ecstasy and the pure brilliance of visual awe.
There is the sound and the music that reminds you of your love or the long lost lover whom you met for the last time…long back! The moment you start believing that it’s a historical love tale, you are hit by an even more visually captivating sequence of charged emotions which is marvelously supported by the mystical beauty of a shy lover whose love is her only passion and strength and her lover who has the charm and sensuality to allure the most fascinating of all beauties.
Why was I struck this way by just a film promo? What is the strong link between Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the colors that identify with his films? The red color for Hum Dil Chuke Sanam and Devdas; shades of Black color for Black and now Green and blue color shades for Sawariya.
The mystery is slowly revealed as the insiders talk about Bhansali’s intentions of drawing a visual beauty which speaks for itself more than the verbose rampage. The passion and the madness for one’s first love have to be special and hence, its visual depiction has to as touching and moving as the emotion itself.
So, how far has Bhansali succeeded in his attempt to create that that magic? The response to the trailer of Saawariya has been more favourable than for any recent releases. The mystery is definitely created and here’s how it was done by the master film-maker himself.
Firstly, did we get to see the newcomers’ faces? No we didn’t. We got a good look at them but not for once their faces were revealed. Secondly, the trailer has a nocturnal hue to it, a mix of mystery and dream-like beauty. The misty night effect was created artificially in the studios by Bhansali n co and the set was redone time and again to get that perfect old world look where love had no measures and you dreamt the impossible to come true. Thirdly, the long shots add to the mystery further.
Lastly, the film reminds you of the great showman. A portion of the visuals show huge billboard signs along with two embraced lovers in the dark mystic hue of the night.
So, is it a tribute to Raj Kapoor or is it the perfect introduction to Ranbir Kapoor or does it slightly draw you closer to the yet-revealed beauty of Sonam Kapoor? The promo definitely gets your attention, plays with your imagination and allures you to want for more. This will be one of the finest and the most creative of all releases for the year.
