Rani could play Paro in new Devdas

If things go as planned, Rani Mukherjee might play the coveted role of Paro in director Sudhir Mishra’s modern take on ‘Devdas’.

Sarat Chandra Chattopadhaya’s novel ‘Devdas’ has once again caught the fancy of filmmakers in Bollywood. While on the one hand filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is set to direct the contemporary version titled Dev. D , on the other hand, Sudhir Mishra is giving a political twist to the story in his adaptation.

Grapevine from Bollywood says Sudhir Mishra is in talks with Rani Mukherjee for the role of Paro, Devdas’s love interest in the film. Shiney Ahuja has already been finalized to play Devdas.

Rumour has it that Rani has had a meeting with Sudhir Mishra and Rangita Nandy (of Pritish Nandy Communications) in this regard. Rani has had a script narration and she is said to have loved her role.

Now, Rani has to sort out her dates before giving her final nod to Mishra.
