Movie Review: My Friend Ganesha (2007)
On one rainy day the boy saves a mouse from drowning. He brings the small mouse home and tells his maid about it. She happily tells the boy that he has saved the pet of Lord Ganesha. Further, the maid narrates Ashu the story of Lord Ganesha and his pet Muskhraj (mouse).
After the story, the boy finds a new friend for himself in the mouse. He is excited about his new found bond with the pet. The story moves on to the situation where his family undergoes crisis and this coincides with the forthcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The maid convinces the members of the family to bring Lord Ganesha home. Things start turning around after the idol is brought home.
In this film where animation is the highlight, script is let loose. The narration is out of place at times and this goes against the plot of the film. The animation portion between Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha and his mouse Mushakraj is adorable.
Pieces like the parental problems and difficulties in the love life of Aditi could have been portrayed in a better fashion.
Rajiv S Ruia’s direction is alright but not tight and crisp. Music can be ignored except for the devotional aarti towards the end. Jai Nandan Kumar cinematography is average.
