Legendary composer O.P. Nayyar passes away

The veteran composer of yester years’ biggest musical hits passed away this Sunday following a massive heart attack. He celebrated his 81st birthday this month on 16th. He had been living away from his family with a close relative.

The legendary composer was a musical force to reckon with who even overtook great composers of the stature of S.D. Burman, Madan Mohan, Naushad, Roshan etc. He gave some memorable music in classics like Howrah Bridge, Aar Paar, Naya Daur, C.I.D., Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Kashmir Ki Kali.

The veteran composer was well-known for his unique use of the blend of piano, saxophone and rhythms. He was also known for not working with the great Lata Mangeshkar in any of his compositions.

His last music composition was for Deepa Mehta’s Hollywood Bollywood with hits songs like “Rang Rang Mere Rang Rang Me”.
