Happy Govinda days are back again?
For all the loyal fans of Govinda its time to smile as the known face of comic genre is back and is here to stay. After a series of not-so-successful films at the box office and then a short hiatus, Govinda has struck gold with his comeback films Bhagam Bhag and Salaam-e-Ishq.
In critic’s opinion, Govinda is back in his colour with Salaam-e-Ishq where he plays the role of a cab-driver. The role is even more special for Govinda as his previous release Bhagam Bhag did offer much scope for him to perform. So, will the happy days of Govinda be finally back?
Govinda was once hailed as the face of Indian comedy and was one of the few mainstream lead actors known for their comic timing. The hit pair of Govinda and David Dhawan gave super hits in the form of the NO.1 films like Hero No.1, Coolie No.1 etc.
But then the audience had enough of the non-stop, non-sense from Govinda and the charming actor became a passé for his own audience. Govinda is now back with two films where he might not be the sole male lead but may have got the opportunity to prove his critics wrong. The actor may have been side-lined in Priyadarshan’s Bhagam Bhag but he bounced back with a multi-starrer film from Nikhil Advani, Salaam-e-Ishq. His role has been appreciated where he is seen in his previous best mode of an actor with immaculate comic timing.
It’s now time that we see the actor in some of the solo roles as well, just to prove that he’s as good in solo as he’s in multi-starrers. But then why not be safe and for the time being may be Govinda is better off playing a second fiddle while finding his way back on the charts.
