Amitabh Bachchan wins French Citizen of the year
For the Indian film industry and any Indian walking on the streets of Mumbai or the narrow hedges of a village will feel the pride and happiness in knowing that their Superstar is the most honoured in the foreign land of France. Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday won Legion d’Honneur, the coveted and most highly rated Citizen award of France.
Big B was presented with the award at the French embassy by the Ambassador from France, Dominique Girard. At the ceremony, filmmaker Luc Jacquet screened his film Penguins, A Love Story, for which Bachchan has given voiceover in English and Hindi.
At the function, the entire Bachchan clan along with Aishwarya Rai were present to witness the memorable moment of Bachchan senior’s life.
In earlier times, other Indians who have won the award were: late filmmaker Satyajit Ray in 1987, sitar maestro Ravi Shankar in 2000 and environmentalist R K Pachauri in 2006.
