CBB Blog: Shilpa has a disastrous day in the house

It has been a very eventful day in the house, and Shilpa has been in the thick of it.

Firstly, the main developments:

All the celebrities were asked to make a unified decision within 1 minute; as to which 3 housemates would stay in the Big Brother house, and which 8 will move to the house next door. They were told the house next door is of a ‘peasant class’. It is revolting, dirty, confined, has damp patches, and the bedroom is well below standard. These 8 celebrities will live the lives of peasants and servants.

The housemates decided that Ken, Jermaine, and Shilpa would stay in the original house, and all the others will move. This happened within minutes. Shilpa got a little upset and immediately started missing the absent housemates. She began sobbing in the corner and was consoled by Jermaine, who put his arms around her.

Big Brother then put another spanner in the works, actually three spanners. Former Big Brother winner Jade Goody entered the original Big Brother house, with her boyfriend and mother. Shilpa’s jaw dropped as she was stunned by the sudden arrival of a ‘family’, the first time a family has entered the house.

Jade Goody was then invited in to the Diary Room, where she was told that the 8 celebrities in the peasant house would act as servants for the now 6 celebrities in the original house. All 6 celebrities, Jermaine, Ken, Shilpa, Jade, her boyfriend, and Jackie her mother, are not allowed to lift a finger. All they have to do is request, and the ‘servants’ will do the ordered jobs. Jade’s appearance in the Diary Room was displayed on television screens in both houses, to the amusement and astonishment of both house members.

But that was not the end; Big Brother had one final surprise, this one for the viewers. All 6 housemates of the original Big Brother house are up for a surprise eviction this coming Wednesday. This means that Ken, Jermaine, Shilpa, and the 3 new housemates now need the assistance of the viewers to stay in the house. Big Brother has stated that only one housemate will be evicted, but that might not be exactly true, and it could be that up to 4 celebrities might be evicted on Wednesday.

One of the housemates was today booted out. Donny became the first celebrity this year to leave the house, after the rocker climbed up and over the walls from the garden of the servants’ quarters, gaining contact with the outside world in the process. “In doing so he broke a fundamental rule,” Big Brother told the servants by means of a laminate this evening. The servants appeared largely apathetic to the news, having already guessed the outcome when Donny was summoned to the diary room some time earlier. After raising a brief toast in memory of their departed housemate, the servants moved on to a discussion of sleeping arrangements.

Now to other gossip from the day. Shilpa appeared to be on the verge of the housemates’ first argument over washing up. The traditional battle, which has been a tradition in most Big Brother series, looked set to get started as the actress found a pile of dishes in the sink - just after she had cooked. “I don’t understand why people don’t do their own dishes,” she exclaimed, with genuine disbelief. “That is terrible. We should tell them to do their own dishes. It’s the right thing to do.” Carole, also annoyed but much less surprised, said: “It would be a hell of a lot easier. We can have a day off tomorrow. We’ll just say we’re not doing it.”

We thought that Shilpa had bonded with Joe and Carole, but this was not the case, once the 8 celebrities moved into the servant’s quarters. Jo and Carole have been bitching about Shilpa, branding the Bollywood star “controlling” and “manipulative”. Referring to Shilpa’s over the washing-up, Carole told the others: “Tonight she was cross because people weren’t doing their own things.” “Well she can’t say anything about me because I’ve always done the washing-up since I’ve been here,” replied Jo, surprised to learn of Shilpa’s annoyance. The ex-S Clubber went on to describe Shilpa as “very manipulative, very controlling”, accusing her of dominating the kitchen. “She’s taken over the role of cooking,” she said. “And she won’t want to eat our food.” Carole agreed that Shilpa might find it hard to adjust to her new-found status as their boss, but added: “She won’t take any shit.”

Shilpa is making things awkward for herself without realising it. She is being mocked by Jade and her mother. Shilpa seems to think it’s just questions the two are asking, but the mother and daughter duo are really up to something else. Jackie is trying to explain about Indian food to Shilpa, but Shilpa is not aware of the kind of food she is describing. They seem to think that Shilpa lives the high-life in India and is not the common Indian, the common Indian she has come in the house for, to clear the misconceptions about. “She’s a princess,” Jade told her mother, “She probably don’t walk the streets!”

Shilpa then goes onto describe the major religions in India, and has put Islam before Hinduism. Not a good idea Shilpa. She is surely going to get some backlash about that. The mother and daughter then go onto laugh about the Gateway of India, describing it as similar to Piccadilly Gardens in the UK. With pigeons and God knows what.

Shilpa has asked Big Brother if she can sleep on the floor. She has some illness that makes it difficult for her to sleep on a bed for long. Big Brother has agreed.

Jade reveals that she once auditioned for a Bollywood film, but can’t remember the name of the director.

Things seem to be going more and more against Shilpa. After Big Brother changed the bedroom, giving each housemate a lavish bed, she wants to change beds with Jade’s mother. The reason being, she can’t put her feet in the direction they will be, because of her religion. Jade’s mother says you were going to sleep on the floor anyway. So, Shilpa takes the new housemates into a corner, and explains the real reason as to why she wants to change beds; Uncle Ken snores. She wants to be far away from him. Tut Tut. Using your religion as an excuse for something else. Is this also the reason why Shilpa broke of with Akshay Kumar? Did he snore like hell too?

To finish of in Shilpa’s own words, “This has been the most hectic day in my life”.
