An amazingly executed film. The film banked on its great comic timing and mind-blowing performances by many of the stalwarts of comedy in the film. The movie got a good start at the box office with commendable opening collections at Mumbai. The film in its 8-week run collected a net gross of Rs.14.92 Crores. It got an average rating because of the same Priyadarshan element. The film collected well in the first couple of weeks and the collections dipped down later.

Synopsis: Jeetu (Shahid Kapoor) is constantly under debts and his marriage to fiancée Pooja(Sushma Reddy) is in jeopardy. He tries to commit suicide so that his family can use his insurance to pay for his debts. But he’s caught in a fishing net by Gundy (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav) who then try to give him to a Gujarati business Bhgat Singh (Om Puri) who has to get his money back from Jeetu. At Prachat’s house, Jeetu pretends to be mute and deaf though his secret is leaked when he’s caught singing by Prabhat’s daughter Shruti (Kareena Kapoor), who promises to guard his secret if he agrees to pretend as her lover so that her marriage to a greedy groom is cancelled. Her marriage has been fixed by hr strict brother played by Suniel Shetty. On knowing the truth, he forces Jeetu to marry Shruti and even Jeetu and Shruti have developed feelings for each other. So, Jeetu is in dilemma between Shruti and Pooja…. very interesting climax!

The film is a superbly executed mix of comedy and drama. The first half will split you into bursts of laughter and then moving on to the second half, the film lives up to a gripping emotional portion. Rajpal Yadav is brilliant with his comic relief and there are good performances by all the actors. The editing and screenplay is immaculate with amazing direction by Priyadarshan. The film is a laugh riot from the beginning till the end.
