Ritesh joins Ajay-Kajol in Santoshi’s Ramayana

Bollywood is finally getting a hang of the epics, classics and now mythological inspirations. Film-maker Rajkumar Santoshi’s mythological extravaganza Ramayan will have Ajay and Kajol in the lead. The latest to join them is Ritesh Deshmukh whose will tentatively play the role of Lakshman in the grand epic.

Rajkumar Santoshi will also be producing his 100-crore big budget movie which is slated to be to release next year. The role of Ravana may well go to either Mohan Lal or Mamooty. Earlier, Kajol and Ajay were finalised to essay the characters of Lord Rama and his wife Sita. The addition of Ritesh Deshmukh to the film has broadened its dimensions. The casting for the movie has been the talk of the town ever since the announcement for the movie came from Santoshi. Though the final casting will be announced by Jan 14th by the film-maker.

Asked about his epic project, Rajkumar Santoshi says, “It is still too early to say anything for sure, as things are yet to be finalised.”

The movie will be the first for Ajay-Kajol after their marriage. Meanwhile, B.R. Chopra Films have also announced the making of another mythological epic under their banner titled “Mahabharat”, which was their successful TV series, as confirmed by director Ravi Chopra.
