Amitabh as Gabbar Singh is exhausted
More publicity stills have been released by Ram Gopal Verma for his forthcoming remake of classic Bollywood blockbuster Sholay.
We all know by now that Amitabh Bachchan is playing the legendary role of Gabbar Singh, enacted by the Late Amjad Khan in the original, and we have seen the initial look he will be taking up. Now more stills of that look have been released and once again they show Amitabh’s Gabbar as a tired, exhausted and well pass-his-sell-by-date baddie.
And what else is new, is that this Gabbar Singh will not be riding a horse, and instead be travelling in humvee… as the one below.
The film itself will see Nisha Kothari in the role of Basanti, but this time her name will be Ghungroo. And not only that but her horse will not be a horse but a rickshaw, and not Dhanno but Laila.
Sushmita Sen will be the widow, but rather than being Radha, her name will be Devi. And she will not be the daughter-in-law but the sister-in-law, to Inspector Ranveer, played by popular South actor Mohanlal.
Where in the original, Basanti and Radha had no scenes together, in the remake they will be friends with many scenes.
Now we ask you, what you make of all these changes… will they work? Or would you have preffered Ramu had stuck to the original? Are you happy with Gabbar in a gangster typer of vehicle and not a horse? Are you happy with the down-trodden look of Gabbar? Are you even happy with Amitabh playing the role of Gabbar? rgv is too focus on gabbar so he is ignoring main characters like basnti and jai by taking mohit ahlawat and nisha kothari.
I agree RGV has destroyed Sholay, he should atleast change the title of the film because this is an insult to the original Sholay!
Amitabh will steal the film as usual.
Amitabh looks like a zombie. His look seems to be a mixture of a zombie+pirate. No matter what, the magic of the original sholay will live on.
Though the styling is quite good and raises curiotisy, but the effect wouldve been tenfold had it been for an original movie with new characters.
Try beating the original train raid scene…I don’t think a car chase (probably) is gonna cut it…or the massacre
RGV’s sholay is nothing like the real classic. He’s just using the name for a publicity stunt to create curiosity and hype for his movie. RGV is a self confessed fan for the classic (or so he say’s) then why is he taking the piss out of the original characters whilst revamping them!
