Bollywood Stars on Special Olympics International Cricket Cup

Bollywood stars have always been enthusiastic in social causes. Now they would be participating in the Special Olympics International Cricket Cup (SOICC). Watch your famous Bollywood stars playing the match on 6th of November, 06.
World renowned celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Rahul Dravid, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif,Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram, Stuart Clark, Michele Clark and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore have come forward to support special Olympic movement and have extended their unconditional support for the cause. The first ‘Special Olympics International Cricket Cup’ (SOICC) will be held in Mumbai, India from 6-10 November 2006. This ‘World Class event’ for athletes with INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY marks the official launch of the most popular sport ‘CRICKET’ in the country amidst the population of the largest disability in the world. The SOICC tournament will kick off internationally with lighting of the torch at the home ground of Cricket Lords Cricket Ground, London at 9.30 am on Monday, October 16, 2006. Special Olympics is an unprecedented global movement which aims at providing quality sports training and competition, improves the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and, in turn, the lives of everyone they touch.
Teams from Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and West Indies will participate in the Special Olympics International Cricket Cup 2006. This major sporting event marks the official launch of Cricket as a sport for Special Olympics globally.

The first leg of SOICC 2006 that starts with a Torch run at London and then moving to Sydney, Lahore (Wagah border) and Mumbai from 16th Oct - 6th Nov, 2006 followed by the Opening Ceremony and Exhibition Cricket Match between Special Olympics athletes , Sports and Bollywood celebrities on 6th November at Mumbai Police Gymkhana . The first round of matches will be held from Nov 8 - 10, 2006 at Cross Maidan in Mumbai.
