MOVIE REVIEW: MERE DIL LEKE DEKHO (2006)

Veteran actor Shatrughan ‘Shotgun’ Sinha’s wife has decided to delve into the wonderful world of film production. I mean why should she be left out when other star wives are doing it too?

Mera Dil Leke Dekho is a comedy of mishaps and misunderstandings, where everyone thinks that everyone is gay. No point in me going into the storyline as I didn’t make head or tail of it. I was totally confused and utterly disgusted, that I had to go though something like this. One of the most miserable experience of my short life.

This is a film that has been specifically targeted to yuppie crowd who are ‘in’ with the times. Every film is made so it leaves a mark on your heart, this one does not do that. The comedy is average but not worth a second look. This is no David Dhawan comedy, this is just plain silly nonsense.

Director Rohit Kaushik has done a good job for a debutante, he still has plenty to learn, and his lack of experience shows on the screen.

The film has one star name – Jackie Shroff. He said he could not say no to Shatrughan Sinha when asked to star. He should have! His acting as the father and the husband who could be having an affair is pretty good, but the supporting acting is a letdown, thus reflecting on his performance.

The film has not been marketed well and therefore should not have a long lease of life. It is good time-pass but only for those that like these kinds of films. I didn’t and I am a yuppie. Or I was before I watched this.

Watch it when it comes on television… which will be very soon.
