Taxing the stars of Bollywood



Here is a short rundown of what the major stars have paid in income tax.

Shah Rukh Khan paid a whopping sum of Rs 7.1 million as service tax for three months from April to June 2006 for sum received for endorsing products.

Khan is a King when it comes to paying service tax too. He is followed by Abhishek Bachchan who paid Rs 2.5 million.

Rani Mukerji is sandwiched at third spot between the Bachchans paying Rs 1.8 million while Amitabh Bachchan paid Rs 15 lakh.

Sushmita Sen paid Rs 0.9 million, Hrithik Roshan Rs 0.8 million, Saif Ali Khan Rs .75 million and Ajay Devgan Rs .675 million.

Service tax is paid quarterly while the returns are filed every six months.
